Summer on the Alpe di Siusi – South Tyrol
Hiking on the Alpe di Siusi
In summer, hikers can find routes of all difficulty levels here. If you have small children and strollers, you’ll also find many suitable paths, if you’d like to walk in the footsteps of Luis Trenker into the pale mountains of the Dolomites.
With the cable car in Alpe di Siusi you can reach airy heights all the way up to Compaccio, the central point of the Alpe di Siusi. From there you can directly start your excursions, or you can take the shuttle bus to Saltria, on the other side of Alpe di Siusi.
In any case, during your excursions you must not miss a stop in one of the many mountain lodges. There you can enjoy typical South Tyrolean snacks (“Marende”) with bacon, cheese, bread and a good glass of wine or elderberry juice.
Nordic Walking is possible virtually anywhere on the Alpe di Siusi, and mountain bikers can ride on extensive tours across the Alpe di Siusi into the Dolomites.
Winter Magic on the Alpe di Siusi
In winter, the Alpe fulfils all wishes: 60 km of perfectly prepared sloped – including 21 for beginners, 35 for intermediate skiers and 3 for professionals – invite you to great fun on the snow. The Fun Parks, like the King Laurin Snowpark, the Speed Traps, the Selftimer Slalom Slopes or the five Fun Parks for children will make a day on the Alpe di Siusi an unforgettable experience.
If you’d like to discover the snow off the slopes, have good stamina and skills, and like to experience great views, try participating in a guided ski tour to one of the surrounding mountain peaks. The demanding and strenuous ascent will be rewarded with stunning views and an unforgettable downhill race through the deep snow.
Especially snowboarders and freestyle skiers should visit the King Laurin Snowpark. A total of 1.5 km of slopes with approximately 50 obstacles offers all freestylers great fun.
Snowshoers can, for example, start their tour in Castelrotto and walk up the frozen waterfalls of the creek “Fröschenbach” right under Mount Sciliar. The necessary equipment can be hired from sports shops or mountaineering schools.
Toboggan, cross-country skiing, ice skating and hiking is also possible: 7 toboggan runs in Fiè and on the Alpe di Siusi offer families and professionals fantastic conditions. Or try night tobogganing – a romantic excursion under the full moon – an unforgettable experience!
80 km cross-country tracks stretch across the Alpe di Siusi – a highlight for skating and classic styles, professionals and beginners. The seemingly endless landscape of gently undulating pastures is a true paradise for cross-country skiers.
In winter, the frozen Lake of Fiè is a great attraction for ice skaters. At the foot of Mount Sciliar nature lovers gather here to skate on the natural ice and to enjoy the magnificent scenery.
